Testimonials

"The Cloud Numbers product is fantastic, I have three different landline numbers diverted to various mobiles and the system works first time every time. The product is competitively priced, especially in comparison to BT & it gives prestige of a true landline number for our customers.

Over the course of the last month I've need to contact the customer service team to add additional numbers & diversions, all requests have been handled in an extremely professional manner, literally no matter what of the day or night- Faultless customer service, if only some of our other suppliers were this good!

Brilliant!

Michael Carter, Managing Director

Tim and I built upon the working relationship we had formed whilst at CORGI when I joined grasp digital.  We were employed to help brand Tim's new company and also support the print collatoral required. Tim was always pleasant and had a smile on his face! A pleasure to do business with and a huge understanding of the work required. Always willing to give advice and take advice.

Creation of an e-Commerce business

Key Systems needed a niche product so they could tackle the e-Commerce world and succeed, they had an idea so approached me to Project Manage the entire business startup.  They wanted to provide local numbers which would ring on a mobile phone, only problem in doing this was a lot of red tape and finding an established Telecoms provider that may allow us to use their platform to provide such a service.  I contacted many suppliers and finally settled on one that could provide everything needed.

Scoping mission was to find a third party telecoms business, create a website, create a backend MIS system to make the business as automated as possible, understand and implement SEO, provide a Direct Debit facility, provide an online payment system, market the products in relevant areas on the web and magazines.

All tasks were completed in a stringent four week period and from project start to first customer ordering on the web.

Diversification of Software and Hardware

The client had a server farm of over 45, included in this was a Siebel system, various disparate MIS / CRM systems, huge corporate Exchange server to name a few.  The client was selling off parts of their business under license and I was employed to manage the separation of the legacy systems so the information contained within each system was made available to each of the licensed businesses.  In some cases this involved everything from email trails through to Siebel Database information, each of the licensed businesses were effectively startups and needed the information through correctly and on time.

Each client received their bespoke IT startup systems with us electing to provide each with a low cost SBS solution with SQL server, each had access to the data they needed and they also had their emails set up with all historical PST email trails.

Project length - 4 months, completed ahead of schedule.

IT Systems downsizing and re-organisation

The client had 8,500 sqft of offices, the IT equipment needed removing and downsizing.  CORGI approached me to project manage the removal and relocation of all IT equipment.  The project began with the downsizing of the server farm (was circa 45 servers) and relocating it to the Key Systems colocation facility.  CORGI had been given a short time to move out of this vast office and every day they were over that deadline ot would cost £10,000 per day, so time was very short.

What was asked of me was to organise the removal of all IT equipment, selling any of it that I could and if not engaging with a Waste electrical and electronic equipment company to remove and dispose of the equipment in the correct manner.

New IT infrastructure and software

Project required an entire new infrastructure, servers, databases and office hardware.  The requirements were for a total re-haul of all the IT equipment, I organised all new PC's and Laptops from Dell, created an image for specific user types and also moved them onto Small Business Server with an additional server for a large SQL database that held their legacy information.

They also needed a flexible telephony solution so I organised a VoIP system to be installed, this enabled them to cut down on their telephone bills.  The flexibility also gave the trustees the ability to have a phone at home allowing them to feel "part of the office".

Creation of a VoIP company

Key Systems again called on my services to create a new business for them.  They needed a brand for their new telephony business and also they needed me to research open source software to see if the project could be done in house.  After much research I provided them with my findings and they decided not to go open source (proved unreliable) and sent me to find a telephony provider.

Telephony provider was signed up, I organised company training and accreditation and then negotiated costs on the features we would be providing the new clients with.  Business Analysis was needed to integrate the CDR files into a bespoke MIS system so bills could be automatically generated, I also completed this for them.

Sage Act 2012 integration project

CORGI Technical engaged me in a project involving Sage Act 2012 CMS.  Firstly they required the data (that was in various stages of completion) held on various machines and spreadsheets to be normalised and then the Act Database populated.  They needed a complex setup using Sage Act because they needed the Web version of the software so contractors could use it but they also required a full version of Sage Act to run locally so I could integrate it with their Sage Accounts 2012 system.

I installed, configured and overcame many obstacles with the Web version to give them the flexibility they needed, this was installed on a rented virtual box in the cloud.  I then set about installing and configuring a full version of Act on their local server and integrated it with their Sage Accounts package.  The final hurdle was to configure both versions of Sage Act so they syncronised overnight so that the databases were up to date with each other.  Other tasks completed were the outlook integration so that emails relating to clients were automatically stored in the CMS and also configuring the marketing module so the client could make use of their data lists.

PROJECTS

Corporate Sharepoint website

The CORGI Group needed a new client facing website, having elected to use Siebel to manage their registration scheme of over 300,000 gas engineers they needed the site to interact with it. My initial task was to do some Business Analysis, each area of the business needed the website to provide areas for them to either sell or provide information to the gas engineers or the general public. I held Storyboard sessions to fathom top level requirements and took these away to flesh out the details. I then provided each area with a overview of their requirements and asked for sign off.

The requirements gathered I could now engage designers to provide me with designs for the new site, the new look and feel was decided upon and we got to work with site layout. This project was on a tight schedule so I employed 4 Sharepoint developers to help out, daily scrum meetings defined the day’s work, we set about the creation of the back end and completed this in good time (with deployment working successfully).

One of the more important requirements was that the gas engineers could re-register on the website but for this to happen successfully we needed to integrate the Sharepoint site with the Siebel database so live information could be sent to and from the web server. We created secure web services to pass the information to and from the web servers which in turn updated the Siebel / Sharepoint systems.
We delivered the solution in time for the annual re-registration phase and over 100,000 gas engineers registered using the website.

Apttus CPQ (Quotation Tool)

Bottomline Technologies required an upgrade of their quotation tool due to an ERP upgrade and also an old tool that did not incorporate flexibility in it to meet future needs.  This initially was a vendor lead assignment but the complexities of FinTech products left the vendor not able to deliver the required project so I stepped in and took control of the project using their resources and my internal development team.

The project was re-scoped and timelines redrawn with a focus on change management because the lives of nearly 100 sales people would be changing overnight when the product was released.  There were many complexities one of them being an approval process that sat outside of Apptus and within Salesforce which was completely bespoke and required integration.

There was a mission critical date to have the tool available and we achieved that with no loss revenue for Bottomline.
